Lady Tigers, Lady Panthers fall in tourney

ROCKSPRINGS — The Meigs Lady Marauders turned back the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers 10-1 on Tuesday in the Division III sectional tournament.

Tess Phelps went 3-3 with two runs batted in to lead a 12-hit attack for Meigs. Liddy Fish was 2-3 with three RBI and Sadie Fox 2-4 with two RBIs.

Ironton was led by Karlee McMackin who went 2-2 with a double and a triple and drove in the Lady Tigers’ only run. Rebekkah Potter was 2-3 while Taylor Monk, Andi Kratzenberg and Laken White each had a hit.

Ironton’s only run came in the sixth inning when White singled and McMackin tripled her home.

Meigs plays at Wheelersburg on Friday in the sectional finals.

BIDWELL — The River Valley Lady Raiders shut out the Chesapeake Lady Panthers 10-0 in six innings on Tuesday in the Division III sectional tournament.

Noel Mershon pitched a two-hitter for the win. She struck out seven and did not walk a batter.

Jordan Porter and Breanna Skeens were 1-2 for Chesapeake’s two hits.

Chelsey Copley and Ashley Cheesebrew were 2-3 with doubles and Libby Leach 2-4 with a double as the Lady Raiders had 13 hits.

River Valley travels to Fairland on Friday in the sectional finals.
