The Greater Huntington Symphonic Band will fill the Riffe Center Mains Rotunda with strong patriotic tunes during their annual Memorial Day concert.

The event is set for Sunday at 5 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

“The concert will be a fun and enjoyable way to spend a late Sunday afternoon,” Pat McCoy, fine arts instructor, said. “It only makes sense to have a concert with a patriotic theme the day before the big parade. It provides an additional touch of class to this already prestigious event by paying tribune, through the gift of music, to those who served in our military — many of whom made the ultimate sacrifice.”

McCoy said the musicians love what they do and work hard to share their gift with the community. He said showing up and supporting the symphonic band is a great way to show respect for the people respecting military men and women by getting everyone fired up for Ironton’s Memorial Day Parade.

The Greater Huntington Symphonic Band, directed by Tom Thompson, is composed of members from the entire Tri-State.
