Ironton cheerleader registration planned

The Ironton Recreation Department will conduct cheerleaders registration for the Bills and Eagles teams from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday in the Ironton City Center for grades 1-6.

 

ILL minor league tourney June 27-30

Ironton Little League will conduct a boys and girls Minor League Tournament for ages 7-8 on June 27-30 at the league fields.

Fee is $50 per team and balls will be supplied.

Football combine set for June 22 at IHS

The third annual Tri-State Rehab high school football combine will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, at Ironton High School.

Players will undergo tests and drills used at NFL combines and results will be made available to players for college purposes.

Fee is $30 and includes lunch and guest speaker Roman Fry, former All-Atlantic Coast Conference first team selection and Outland Trophy candidate.

Checks should be made payable to Tri-State Rehab Services. Registration forms are available at Tri-State Rehab. Lunch is provided and participants receive a dri-fit T-shirt.

Flyer/OLBH 5K Race set for August 10

The third annual Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital/Ironton Catholic Schools Flyer 5K Race will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, starting at St. Joseph High School.

Registration fee is $15 and $20 after Aug. 3. Registration the day of the race will be 7-7:45 a.m.

Restrooms will be available at the start adn finish area. Water station is provided at the halfway point. Medical care is also available. Food and door prizes will be provided after the race.

Tech shirst will be guaranteed to the first 200 runners. There were 353 entries last year. Walkers are welcome.

NIKE basketball camp set for Ironton July 8

A NIKE basketball camp conducted by basketball trainer Matt Wilson will be held for boys ages 9-17 at Ironton High School July 8-12.

Fee is $215 and campers will receive 23 hours of skill instruction in all phases of the game from NIKE trainers and coaches, official NIKE camp T-shirt, NIKE certificate and evaluation, NIKE prizes and drinks.

Rio Grande girls’

plan overnight camp

The University of Rio Grande women’s basketball program will conduct its overnight instructional camp July 7-10 for girls in grades 4-12.

Coaches and players will instruct campers in all phases of the game. Team and individual awards will be presented.

Fee is $265 per camper and includes lodging, meals, T-shirt, certificate of participation and use of the Lyne Center swimming pool.

A camp store is available to purchase drinks, snacks, pizza and Rio Grande apparel.

Ironton chapter will hold officiating class

The Ironton Chapter of Basketball Officials and the Ohio High School Athletic Association. will conduct an OHSAA basketball officiating class beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Chesaspeake Middle School.

Senior softball 55up needing players

The Senior Softball League for ages 55 and older is seeking players for the upcoming season.

The games are played at the Chesapeake Senior Center field on Monday and Thursday evenings.

Girls’ fastpitch

Girls’ youth fastpitch softball tournaments are being planned for June 14-16 at First National Bank Park, State Route 335, in Beaver, Ohio.

The tournaments are for teams in the age groups 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U.

Entry fee is $350 and four games are guaranteed. Tournament is limited to the first eight paid teams per division. There will be three pool play games plus a single elimination tournament.

Awards will be give to the first and second place teams in each division, individual trophies and an MVP medallion for pool play games. Licensed umpires will be used.

Circlevile Dog Days 5K race set Aug. 3

The 12th annual Circleville Dog Days 5K road race, presented by Red Barn, will be held Sat., August 3 at 9 a.m. beginning and ending at Circleville High School.

The event boasts unique “Dog Days” suncatchers, given to the top three in each of 32 total age groups, plus awards to the top three overall male and female finishers. Numerous door prizes also will be awarded, water and splits will be available on the course, and refreshments will be available at the finish.
