Charles Sparks
Aug. 7, 1984 – June 21, 2013
Charles William Sparks Jr., 28, of Ironton, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013, at his residence. The Ironton-native was born August 7, 1984, a son of Charles William Sparks of Ironton and Dolly Newcomb and Mark Clark of Ironton.
Charles attended Rock Hill Schools and was a factory worker for Eddie Bauer in Columbus. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James Newcomb; and paternal grandparents, James and Betty Sparks.
In addition to his parents he is survived by daughter, Destiny Marie Sparks of Ironton; son, Hunter Sparks of Grayson, Ky.; sisters, Jamie Ann Sparks and Samantha Jean Sparks of Ironton; brothers, Johnny Ray Turvey of Ashland, Ky., and David Eugene Turvey of Ironton; sister, Amanda Sparks of Ironton; maternal grandmother, Joyce Webb of Ironton; friend, Scott Davisson of Franklin Furnace; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday June 25, at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St. Ironton, with the Rev. Jeff Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Hecla Cemetery. Jack Haney
April 6, 1924 — June 20, 2013
Jack Clifford Haney, 89, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Jo-Lin Health Center. The Lima native was born April 6, 1924, a son to the late Frank and Mary (Carmichael) Haney. Mr. Haney was a 1945 graduate of Ironton High School. Jack went on to work and retired as a laborer for Carlyle Tile Company.
Jack is survived by two daughters, Beverly (David) Stapleton and Cathy (Tony) Scherer both of Ironton; a son, Charles Haney also of Ironton; six grandchildren, Cathy Jo (Wesley) White, David Stapleton Jr. and Robyn Jones, Katie Scherer and A.J. McKnight, Heather (Mike) Freeman, Hollie Haney and Matt Weber, and Chris (Amanda) Haney, all of Ironton; one nephew, Ed Haney, also of Ironton; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by a brother, Edwin Haney.
Graveside services will be 3 p.m. on Monday, June 24, at Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point with Pastor Richard Scheffield officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home on the day of the service.

Betty Adkins
Sept. 4, 1953 — June 10, 2013
Betty F. Adkins, 59, of Canal Winchester, formerly of Ironton, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013. The Ironton native was born Sept. 4, 1953, the daughter of the late George E. and Justine Anderson Brown.
Ms. Adkins was a graduate of Ironton High School and a former owner/operator of Browse-A-Bit Florist and Gifts, for 32 years, retiring in 2002. She attended the First Baptist Church in Russell, Ky., and was a former president of the Ironton Business Association.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, George A. Brown.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Lisa Adkins of Canal Winchester; two granddaughters, Isabella Adkins and Abigail Adkins both of Canal Winchester, a brother and sister-in-law, David and Cindy Brown, of Ironton; a sister-in-law, Janet Fraley of Georgetown, Ky.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 24, in Woodland Cemetery with Pastor Ken Gowin officiating. There will be no public visitation. Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Home Reach Hospice of Columbus, 800 McConnell Road, Columbus, Ohio 43214. Bonnie Riggs
Bonnie Mae Riggs, 52, of South Point, died Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Cornerstone Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. She is survived by her husband, Everett Douglas Riggs.

James Mark Chacos, 91, of Chesapeake, died May 30, 2013, at Jo-Lin Health Center in Huntington, W.Va. Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday, June 24 at Hall Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup, Ky.
