Thelma Clonch
Thelma Faye Clonch, 84, of South Point, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. The Lawrence County native was born Feb. 20, 1929, a daughter of the late Thomas Dickess Sr. and Dorothy Walls Dickess. She was the widow of the late Dana P. Clonch.
Mrs. Clonch was a 1948 graduate of Kitts Hill High School. She was a retired laborer for Armco and was a member of Union Baptist Church in Kitts Hill. She was a former employee for J.C. Penney and Wilson’s Sporting Goods. She also attended South Point United Methodist Church and Mamre Church
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Lowell Simpson of South Point; daughter, Beth Igo of South Point; five grandchildren, Craig and Missy Simpson of South Point, Kari and Filip Cervinka of Laguna Niguel, Calif., Dana and Brian Smith of South Point, Heather and Bryan Ferguson of South Point, and Clay Igo and Shyla Shope of South Point; four great-grandchildren, Grace and Landon Simpson of South Point, and Skyler and Kylee Ferguson of South Point; a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas “Bud” and Barbara Dickess of Aid; a special friend, John David Terry of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a companion, Woodrow “Woody” Holbrook of Ironton; and lots of friends and family.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Dotts officiating. Burial will follow in Mamre Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net
Donald Bowen
Donald Edward “Don” Bowen, 58, of Ironton died Monday, July 1, 2013, at his home. He was born to the late Robert and Ruth Holtzapfel Bowen on July 19, 1954.
He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a self-employed carpenter. He is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Jennifer and Kevin Lewis, and Madison Bowen. Grandchildren include Eli Fisher Lewis, Jonah Hunter Lewis, Bowen Thomas Gossett and Finn Mathew Gossett, all of Ironton; brothers, Robert L. Bowen Jr. of Savannah, Ga., and Tony and Patty Bowen of Ironton; sisters, Becky and James Huston of Lexington, Ky., Mariclare and Mike Waginger of Ironton, and Susan and Richard Price of Ironton.
Memorial service will be Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at O’Keefe- Baker Funeral Home.
Zane Honaker
Zane Adam Lee Honaker, 2 months, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, W.Va. on Tuesday, July 2, 2013. Zane was the infant son of Adam Honaker and Brittany Wiley of Chesapeake. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Rome Cemetery, Proctorville by the Rev. Eddie Salmons. Burial will follow.
