Kenneth Henry

Kenneth R. “Sarge” Henry, 85, of Wheelersburg, died Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Concord Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born March 12, 1928, in Superior to Charles F. and Mary (Miller) Henry. He graduated from high school in Pedro and joined the army in 1950, attended basic training at Fort Benning, Ga., and served in Germany, Korea and Vietnam. “Sarge” retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years. The final five years he was a drill instructor at Fort Dix. Kenneth attended Shumway Free Will Baptist Church, was a member of the VFW Post 23, American Veterans,and was a life member of the D.A.V.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine; son, Kevin Henry of Ironton; daughter, Sheryl Ann Prince of Ironton; three sisters, Donna Faye Wild (Bob) of Ironton, Nancy Henry of Minford, Kay Henry of Wheelersburg; brother, John Henry of Wheelersburg; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many close friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Williams and brother, Jack Henry.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville with Pastor Tony Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Vernon Cemetery with military honors provided by the James Dickey Post 23. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Betty Jo Argabrite, 66, of Ashland, Ky., died Monday July 1, 2013, at J.J. Jordan Geriatric Center in Louisa, Ky. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Carman Funeral Home-Flatwoods.
