Ironton sets football fitness for July 22

Any boys planning to play football at Ironton High School in grades 10-12 should meet for physical fitness at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 22, in the stadium bleachers.

Fitness for freshmen and junior high will be announced at a later date.

IRD youth football signups July 13, 20

The Ironton Youth Football League will conduct registration from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, July 13 and 20, at the Ironton City Center for grades K-6.

Tryouts will be held on Monday, July 22, at the Ironton Little League baseball fields for new players who will be starting in pads.

 

 

Rock Hill athletic physicals set July 14

Physicals will be given Friday for all students planning to play any sport during the 2013-14 school year at Rock Hill High School and Middle School.

Seniors and juniors will have physicals at 1:30 p.m., sophomores and freshmen at 2:30 and junior high at 3:30.

This is the only time that free physicals will be conducted. Physicals will include concussion screening.

Students should obtain a physical form and fill in the necessary advanced information. Remaining information will be done at the physicals.

Physicals will be conducted in the gymnasium area.

 

Ironton chapter will hold officiating class

The Ironton Chapter of Basketball Officials and the Ohio High School Athletic Association. will conduct an OHSAA basketball officiating class beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Chesaspeake Middle School.

Fee is $140 and must be paid when registering online at www.OHSAA.org

Flyer/OLBH 5K Race set for August 10

The third annual Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital/Ironton Catholic Schools Flyer 5K Race will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, starting at St. Joseph High School.

Registration fee is $15 and $20 after Aug. 3. Registration the day of the race will be 7-7:45 a.m.

Restrooms will be available at the start adn finish area. Water station is provided at the halfway point.

Medical care is also available. Food and door prizes will be provided after the race.

Tech shirts will be guaranteed to the first 200 runners. There were 353 entries last year. Walkers are welcome.

Circlevile Dog Days 5K race set Aug. 3

The 12th annual Circleville Dog Days 5K road race, presented by Red Barn, will be held Sat., August 3 at 9 a.m. beginning and ending at Circleville High School.

The event boasts unique “Dog Days” suncatchers, given to the top three in each of 32 total age groups, plus awards to the top three overall male and female finishers. Numerous door prizes also will be awarded, water and splits will be available on the course, and refreshments will be available at the finish.
