Patrick Boggs

Patrick Kevin Boggs, 60, of Ironton passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2013, at his parents’ residence. At the time of his passing, Pat was surrounded by his family. The Ironton native was born March 25, 1953, a son to Clarence and Lafern (Murnahan) Boggs of Ironton.

Pat attended Ironton High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Army. Later, Pat worked for the city of Ironton and worked 10 years for Triple Crown Beverage Company in Ashland, Ky. Pat loved riding his motorcycle with friends and playing guitar.

In addition to his parents, Pat is survived by a daughter, Heather (Eric) Clark of Frankfort, Ky.; three sisters, Susan (Dave) Liming of Sparks, Nev., Cindy McComas of Ironton and Terri Mollette of Ironton; a brother, Mike Boggs of Columbus; four nieces; three nephews; two great nephews; three great nieces; and a beloved cat named “Cat.”

Mass of Christian burial will be 8 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father David Huffman officiating. Visitation will be the same day as Mass at Tracy Brammer – Monroe Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at which time Father Huffman will lead family and friends in a prayer service. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the VFW Post #8850.

Evelyn Vogelsong

Evelyn K. Vogelsong of Wheelersburg, was called home by her heavenly Father on Monday, July 15, 2013. She was born on Nov. 28, 1923, to John Allen Knopp and Carrie Massie Knopp in Middleport.

She grew up on the Ohio River and always loved the Ohio and the many boats on it. Evelyn was married for 35 years to her late husband Rev. Harold W. Vogelsong. She was a lifelong member of New Boston Methodist and Christ United Methodist Church of Sciotoville. Evelyn retired from the City of Portsmouth after 25 years of service as administrative secretary for the Portsmouth Police Department. Evelyn’s life was richer because of the joy she received from her pets.

She is survived by her daughter, Melinda Anne and husband Ralph Burk of Wheelersburg. Her beloved grandson, Andrew Burk of Houston, Texas, sisters, Nola Swisher of Middleport, Lera Jones of Pomeroy and brother in law John Fultz of Middleport. She has many nieces and nephews all of whom she loved and cared for deeply.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Allen Knopp and Marcus Knopp, sisters Marilyn K. Fultz, Vivian K. Titus and brothers in law, Frank Titus, William Swisher, Harold Jones, Wayne Vogelsong and Donald Vogelsong.

Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Pete Michael officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Ralph Burk, Charles Burk, Daniel Burk, Dave Vogelsong, David Swisher, and Marc Fultz. Rev. Harry Bailey

Rev. Harry Bailey Jr., 87, of Wurtland, Ky., died on Monday, July 15, 2013, at his home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Faith Christian Assembly in Flatwoods, Ky., with Rev. Jonathan Bailey, Rev. S.L. “Butch” Erwin Jr., and Rev. Brian Montgomery. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods. Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods. Roberta Neal

Roberta “Bobby” Neal, 63, of Wheelersburg, died Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home.
