St. Joseph soccer clinic set Aug. 5,6,8

The annual St. Joseph High school youth soccer clinic will be held from 6-8 p.m. (under age 6 will meet from 6-7:30) on Aug. 5, 6 and 8 and the Ironton area soccer fields on Ninth and Lorain Streets.

Fee is $30 and $20 for each additional sibling. Registration will be from 5-5:45 p.m. at the fields or forms may also be obtained at Unger’s Shoes, Iron City Hardware, Bob Clyse Auto Mall or St. Lawrence, St. Joseph and St. Mary’s churches.

Flyer/OLBH 5K Race set for August 10

The third annual Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital/Ironton Catholic Schools Flyer 5K Race will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, starting at St. Joseph High School.

Registration fee is $15 and $20 after Aug. 3. Registration the day of the race will be 7-7:45 a.m.

Restrooms will be available at the start and finish area. Water station is provided at the halfway point.

Medical care is also available. Food and door prizes will be provided after the race.

Tech shirts will be guaranteed to the first 200 runners. There were 353 entries last year. Walkers are welcome.

Benefit Glo Run JPK 5K set for Aug. 9

The Glo Run JPK 5K benefit run will be held at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, at the Proctorville Kroger parking lot. Proceeds benefit John Paul Kelley who was paralyzed in an accident. He and his wife, Jessica, have a two-month old daughter, Paige.

The couple must take an indefinite time off work to deal with the situation and funds will help with medical and household financial needs.

Fee is $25 and guarantees a T-shirt to the first 150 entries who register by Aug. 1. Walkers are welcome. Packet pickups will begin at 6 p.m..

Awards will be given to the top two overall male and female finishers and the top two male and females in each of the nine age groups.

Runners are asked to wear Glo reflective gear, paint, necklaces and glasses.

 

SP boosters hosting golf scramble Aug. 25

The South Point athletic boosters will sponsor a benefit golf scramble on Sunday, Aug. 25, at Diamond Links Golf Course in Catlettsburg, Ky.

Registration begins at 12:15 p.m. with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.

Fee is $60 per player. Meal will be catered by Texas Roadhouse. There will be door prizes and comparative awards. All fees go to the boosters.

Ironton chapter will hold officiating class

The Ironton Chapter of Basketball Officials and the Ohio High School Athletic Association. will conduct an OHSAA basketball officiating class beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Chesaspeake Middle School.

Fee is $140 and must be paid when registering online at www.OHSAA.org

Circlevile Dog Days 5K race set Aug. 3

The 12th annual Circleville Dog Days 5K road race, presented by Red Barn, will be held Sat., August 3 at 9 a.m. beginning and ending at Circleville High School.

The event boasts unique “Dog Days” suncatchers, given to the top three in each of 32 total age groups, plus awards to the top three overall male and female finishers.

Numerous door prizes also will be awarded, water and splits will be available on the course, and refreshments will be available at the finish.

If you are interested in running, print an entry form at www.circlevillexc.com or register the day of the race from 7:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. There is a $15 preregistration fee ($20 on race day), and at least the first 150 registered will receive a free T-shirt.
