As an introduction, I believe in God and I also believe that one person can make a difference in this world. I have seen it happen.

It only takes one person to get the ball rolling, and through a faithful following, others can come aboard, and changes can be made.

My purpose here is to offer encouragement to someone who has the time to pursue a cause. And this cause is the Big Sandy Power Plant in Lawrence County, Ky.

There has been a lot of talk lately per what will happen with the power plant that supplies electricity to a great big part of Eastern Kentucky.

Scrubbers have been mentioned and a total shut-down with replacement of our electricity out of northern West Virginia is also a possibility.

In either case, you can be assured it will cost us a bundle. New EPA regulations are due out on June 1, 2015, which Kentucky will need to implement one year later.

At this point in time, no one knows what the new regulations will entail or what course to take.

Thanks to Obama, the June unemployment rate jumped from 10.2 percent a year ago to 11.5 percent in Lawrence County, Ky.

Obama is also bringing the coal industry to its knees, literally and figuratively. Considering, too, how all else of his grandiose plans have faltered, we need to pray for him, for he knows not what he does.

In view of this, I believe the best course for us, in regard to the power plant, would be to leave things exactly as they currently are for the next 10 years.

With this in mind, I would hope, and pray, that someone can take this thought and run with it, for all our sakes.
