PINE GROVE — The Coal Grove Hornets were at their best.
Brent Morgan took medalist honors and Tori Holmes had her best round of the season as the Hornets won a tri-match at the Ironton Country Club.
Morgan fired a 36 to lead the Holmes who had a 172-team score. Brandon Adkins shot a 44 while Luke McGraw and Holmes each carded a 46. Ryan Malone had a 55.
“We’re proud of Tori. She plays the same tees as the boys and just goes out there and gets it done. She just keeps getting better,” said Hornets’ coach Danny Morgan.
Ironton had a 214 team score as Jaylen Thornhill and Cory Rawlins each shot a 47 to lead the Fighting Tigers. Mitchell Weisgarber had a 56, Mason Slagel a 64 and Chandler Dodson shot a 72.
River Valley finished with a 209-team score. Logan Sheets had a 44 and Zach Morris a 45 for the Raiders. Brandon Cornell shot a 59, Rondall Cornell a 61 and Jordan Howell a 62.
Pointers top Redmen
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The South Point Pointers used the strong play of Madison Riley to beat the Rock Hill Redmen in a duel golf match on Wednesday at Sugarwood Golf Course.
Riley took medalist honors with a 41 to lead the Pointers who had a 206-team score. Austin Wellman shot a 49 followed by Kyle Goodson with a 56, Barbara Collins 58 and Mackenzie Schweikart-Evans had a 72.
Logan Barcus had a 60 and Austin Barcus a 61 to pace the Redmen who posted a 248 total.
Gavin Boggs finished with a 63, Logan Boggs carded a 64, and Drew Brammer and Gabe Casey each had a 67.
