HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Cabell Huntington Hospital will offer a preview of Huntington’s Kitchen during a free open house event during ChiliFest in downtown Huntington Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Newly re-opened under the hospital’s management, and with a new face behind the stove, Huntington’s Kitchen will be expanding cooking courses and health and wellness classes to continue the mission that started during Jamie Oliver’s “Food Revolution” in 2009. Saturday’s open house will allow everyone to walk through the doors, sample a healthy chili and learn about what’s next for Huntington’s Kitchen.

New kitchen manager, Joy Dalton, MBA, joins Cabell Huntington Hospital to oversee operations at Huntington’s Kitchen. Before coming to Huntington’s Kitchen, Dalton was an award-winning culinary arts and restaurant management teacher with Putnam County Schools at the Putnam Career & Technical Center.

“There are no limitations to the impact that Huntington’s Kitchen can have on our community’s health, and I consider myself to be fortunate to be a part of it,” Dalton said. “It is our mission at Cabell Huntington Hospital to serve our community’s health needs and the kitchen is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to deliver the hospital’s health and wellness expertise to families and individuals who want to live healthy lives by changing what they eat and how they cook. We look forward to welcoming new faces and new concepts that will help us continue the Food Revolution.”

Huntington’s Kitchen, located at 911 Third Ave. across from Pullman Square first opened in 2009 during the Food Revolution brought by British Chef Jamie Oliver. After several years of operation under the direction of Ebenezer Medical Outreach Inc., Cabell Huntington Hospital has now assumed management of the facility. In addition to expanded cooking courses for adults, children and families, regularly scheduled community health education events and cooking demonstrations will be offered at Huntington’s Kitchen.
