Defendants answer indictments in county common pleas court

Some denied the charges against them while others admitted their guilt Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Robert Harper, 37, of 2480 County Road 181, Ironton, was arraigned on a count of second-degree felonious assault, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Retired Judge W. Richard Walton, filling in for Judge D. Scott Bowling, continued bond from a lower court and set a pretrial for Sept. 25.

Harper was also ordered to stay away from the victim.

Linda Roadcap, 48, of 9024 State Route 775, South Point, was arraigned on a bill of information of fourth-degree receive stolen property from an elderly person (a credit card), to which she pleaded guilty.

Walton sentenced the woman to four years community control sanctions under intensive supervised probation and ordered her to complete the STAR Community Justice Center program and 200 hours of community service.

Walton also ordered the woman to pay $1,471.25 in restitution to her employer, Community Home Healthcare.

A $10,000 own-recognizance bond with GPS monitoring was set until her report date.

Jeffrey Lewis, 43, of 2218 N. Sixth St., Ironton, was arraigned on a bill of information of fifth-degree failure to notify change of address, to which he pleaded guilty.

Walton sentenced the man to eight months in prison, which was to run concurrently with a probation violation sentence.

Leon Adkins, 37, of 532 Orchard St., Toledo, was arraigned on a fourth-degree count of trafficking in drugs, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Walton continued bond from a lower court and set a pretrial for Sept. 25.

Diana Maddox, 26, of 37CA Ira Road, Cumberland, Va., was arraigned on a bill of information of fifth-degree possession of drugs, to which she pleaded not guilty.

Walton continued bond from a lower court and set a pretrial on Oct. 2.

Aaron Adkins, 26, of 111A Fairview Drive, South Point, was arraigned on a fifth-degree count of breaking and entering, to which he pleaded not guilty. Walton continued bond from a lower court and set a pretrial on Oct. 2.

Cecil Gordon, 30, of 455 29th St., Ashland, Ky., was arraigned on counts of third-degree illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs and fifth-degree possession of criminal tools, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Walton set bond at $25,000 cash or surety and set a pretrial on Sept. 18.

Charles Parks, of 1096 Reinhard Ave., Columbus, was arraigned on two fifth-degree and two fourth-degree counts of trafficking in crack cocaine, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Jess Pritchard, 37, of 707 Ashtabula St., Ironton, was sentenced to nine months in prison for counts of assault on a peace officer and resisting arrest. A count of failure to comply with order or signal of police officer was dismissed last week when the man entered a guilty plea.

Walton also ordered the man to pay $95 remaining on his GPS monitoring and to return a charger for the monitoring system.

Jason Elkins, 33, of 229 Township Road 1080, Waterloo, was sentenced to 12 months in prison for a fifth-degree count of failure to notify change of address. Elkins pleaded guilty to the charge Aug. 28.
