COAL GROVE — The Lucasville Valley Indians used a strong running game to beat the Coal Grove Hornets 56-21 on Friday.

Nate Arnett carried 12 times for 17 yards and scored four touchdowns to lead the Indians’ ground attack that racked up 285 yards.

Quarterback Bryan Rolfe was 3-of-4 passing for 100 yards and a score as Lucasville finished with 385 total yards.

The Indians, 3-0, have now won 23 straight regular season games.

Coal Grove (0-3) was led by quarterback Jesse Rigsby who completed 12 of 20 passes for 228 yards with an interception.

Isaiah Gunther scored two touchdowns for the Hornets and D.J. Miller added the third score. Mason Nance had an interception for the defense.

The Indians went up 6-0 in the first quarter on a 1-yard run by Arnett. The lead went to 14-0 at the 11:15 mark of the second quarter on a 17-yard scamper by Arnett.

Bryan Rolfe hit Ethan Clark-Holbrook with a 17-yard pass and Blake Howard’s 22-yard touchdown run opened up a 28-0 halftime lead.

Arnett had a 54-yard TD run and Brice Jordan a 1-yard scoring run in the third quarter to open up a 42-0 lead.

Gunther got Coal Grove on the scoreboard with 4:08 left in the third quarter. He scored on a 1-yard run on fourth down.

Rigsby completed a 36-yard pass to Sean Paulus and a 22-yarder to Conor Markins to set up his 18-yard scoring strike to Gunther with 10:48 to play. Gunther and Rigsby clicked on the conversion pass as well.

Paulus had a 54-yard reception to set up a 1-yard scoring run by D.J. Miller with 4:15 to play for the Hornets’ final touchdown.
