CHESAPEAKE — Lawrence County Sheriff’s investigators continue to search for a man who allegedly robbed the City National Bank in Chesapeake on Tuesday.
“We are following up some leads, but nothing solid yet,” Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless said this morning.
At approximately 10:46 Tuesday morning a call came to the sheriff’s office from the bank on Rockwood Avenue in Chesapeake that a robbery had taken place.
The alleged robber was described as a white male 5-foot-8-inches tall with a slender build.
“He was wearing a blue hoodie sweatshirt, blue jeans and brandishing a hand gun,” Lawless said. “He went to the counter and demanded money from the teller.”
The man allegedly received an undetermined amount of money from the teller and then fled on foot out the front door of the bank and headed toward the woods behind the facility.
“We have canines up in the woods searching as well as officers,” Lawless said on Tuesday morning.
By 12:30 p.m., however, the canine search was called off.
There was one customer in the bank. No one was hurt in the incident.
