Joantha Meeham

Joantha “Jody” E. Meehan, 77, of California, formerly of Ironton, passed away. The Ironton native was born April 12, 1936, the daughter of the late Joseph and Iantha Wileman Meehan.

Miss Meehan was a 1954 graduate of St. Joseph High School and received her bachelor’s degree in history and English from the College of St. Teresa in Winona, Minn. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ironton and attended Resurrection Parish in Santa Rosa, Calif. She was a retired teacher from the San Francisco School District, where she taught for more than 30 years, a member of the California Retired Teachers Organization and the YLI (Catholic Women’s Club). She has lived in California since 1960.

She is survived by several cousins, Jim Meehan of Southport, N.C., Michael Meehan of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Bobbie Sue Meehan-Congdon of Seattle, Wash.

Marcella Black, 87, of Chesapeake, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at Heartland of Riverview, South Point. Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, by the Rev. Harold Hamlin. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville.
