WEST LAFAYETTE — Brent Morgan is making the state golf tournament a habit.
The Coal Grove Hornets’ junior golfer shot a 2-over par 74 at Wednesday’s Division III district tournament held at River Greens Golf Course to earn his third straight state tournament berth.
Morgan’s state chances were in doubt until he rose to the occasion and birdied four of his last seven holes.
The Hornets — who were second in the sectional tournament — did not qualify as a team for the state tournament.
Chesapeake did not qualify for the state tournament in the Division II district, but Drew Oxley advanced to the state tournament as one of two individual qualifiers.
Oxley shot a 73 to reach the state tournament. The other individual to qualify was Eli McKee of Southeastern with a 76.
Washington Court House was the team champion with a 320-team score. Fairfield Union was two strokes back to finish as runners-up and advance to the stat tournament.
