“I am very excited and humbled at the opportunity to move into this role,” Morrison said. “As a life-long Lawrence Countian, I understand how important The Tribune is to the communities we serve.

“I look forward to guiding Lawrence County’s hometown newspaper and ensuring that we remain a fiscally strong business, offer the best value for advertisers and deliver great products to our readers.”

Goodman, an award-winning journalist with the ability to excel as a writer in a wide range of news genres, began her Tribune career as a reporter in 2010 before later being named the special projects editor.

“I feel very humbled to be put in this leadership role,” Goodman said. “Since moving to the Tri-State from North Carolina, I have always felt welcomed by the people of Lawrence County and I will work hard to make sure The Tribune continues to produce news that matters to the community. ”

The promotions come as Tribune publisher Michael Caldwell leaves his position to become president and publisher of Leader Publication Inc., in Niles, Mich. Both operations are affiliates of Boone Newspapers Inc.

Caldwell began his career with The Tribune in 2002 as a reporter and held a variety of editor positions before being named publisher in 2006. During his tenure The Tribune was honored as the state’s best community newspaper six times by the Ohio Associated Press, received more than 150 journalism awards, was named the Chamber of Commerce’s Business of the Year and partnered with civic organizations to lead a variety of community betterment projects.

“This is truly bittersweet for my family and me. Although I am excited about this new opportunity, I will greatly miss Ironton and all the wonderful friends I have made in the community over the years,” Caldwell said. “This was the toughest decision I have ever made. Although I grew up in Ashland, truly it was Ironton that became my home. It is the people that make it unique and this will always hold a special place for our family.”

For Caldwell, it is rewarding to see two individuals he has worked with for years and helped prepare for this opportunity be given the chance to lead the way into a new era.

“I have great confidence in Michelle and Josh. I am certain they, along with the rest of the outstanding leadership team and tremendously talented staff, will take The Tribune to new heights,” Caldwell said. “I look forward to working with them to ensure that the transition is smooth and that The Tribune remains among the best community newspapers in the state.”
