Ladies 9-Hole celebrates end of the golf season with annual potluck dinner

PINE GROVE — It was like Thanksgiving with a game of golf.

The Ironton Ladies Nine Hole Golf Association of the Ironton Country Club held its annual potluck outing that included members and their guests for golf and a large luncheon.

The end of the year potluck dinner guest list included: Joyce and Jerry Fields, Sharon and Ed Eldridge, Rose Auble and More Willis, Georgia and Carlos Willis, Betty and Lonnie Fraley, Pat and Jim Riggs, Nancy and George Livingston, Cecilia and Jim Woods, and Johnna Jones and Danny Joseph. Special guests were Midge Payne, Irene Howard and Doris Roberts.

The golfing events have several winners. Low score: Carlos and Georgia Willis and Marty Lewis and Wanda Spears; Longest putt: Carlos and Georgia Willis; Closest to the Pin: Jerry Fields; Longest Putt: Marty Lewis; Longest Fairway Drive: Danny Joseph.

The yearly tournament winners were:

Club championship: Jane Mains; First Flight: Pat Lambert; Second Flight: Joyce Lewis; Third Flight: Joyce Fields; Handicap: champion Nancy Livingston and three runners-up Rose Auble, Pat Riggs, Cecilia Woods; Ringer Tournament: Jane Mains; Most Improved: Joyce Fields; Birdie Tree: Jane Mains; Par Tree: Jane Mains.

Yearly Event Drawing Winners: 1. Joyce Lewis; 2. Nancy Livingston; 3. Rose Auble; 4. Joyce Lewis; 5. Pat Lambert; 6. Georgia Willis; 7. Pat Lambert; 8. Joyce Fields; 9. Betty Fraley; 10. Georgia Willis; 11. Nancy Livingston; 12. Sharon Fox; 13. Nancy Livingston.

The potluck event hostess was Nancy Livingston. Johnna Jones presented the awards and Pat Riggs organized the day’s events.

Officers for the year were chairman Pat Lambert, vice-chairman Nancy Livingston; secretary and publicity Joyce Lewis, treasurer Johnna Jones, historian Betty Fraley, sunshine Joyce Fields and Cecilia Woods and tournament director Pat Riggs.

The club expressed its gratitude to Lynn and Burl Bunker for their help in the restaurant, the clubhouse and the seasonal decorations.

The groups’ upcoming Christmas party will be 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 2, at the Bellefonte Country Club. There will be an exchanging of gifts.
