Shirley Shepard

Shirley A. Shepard, 71, of South Point, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.  Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point.

Shirley was born Aug.19, 1942, a daughter of the late William Harrison and Clarice Crager McCoy.  She was a homemaker and a member of Burlington Baptist Church.  Shirley is survived by her daughter, Marcy (Tim) Bruce; her son, Larry (Karen) Shepard Jr.; three grandchildren, Larry Shepard III, Lyanne Shepard, and Bobby Deere; one great-grandchild, Payson Shepard; one sister, Connie Jenkins; and two brothers, Danny and Billy McCoy.

Emily Fulks

Emily Louise Fulks, 93, of Scottown, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at Arbors at Gallipolis in Gallipolis.  Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville by pastor Charles Turley. Burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery in Willow Wood. Visitation will be held 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mary Jordan 

Mary Ann Jordan, 78, of Lake Placid, Fla., entered her Heavenly home Dec. 16, 2013. She was born Sept. 19, 1935, in Deering, a daughter of the late James M. and Effie Langdon Bruce.

A dedicated Christian, she was saved and baptized at the Ice Creek Missionary Baptist Church in 1947 where she was active in the adult choir and sang with her family members. She was a current member of Independent Baptist Church in Sebring, Fla., where she was a choir member and faithful to the services.She also visited Bethel Baptist Church in Lake Placid where her brother-in-law, John Hankins, served as interim pastor.

She graduated from Dawson-Bryant High School in 1954; was senior homecoming attendant and voted as “Prettiest Girl” by her classmates. Her employment included banks and savings and loans.

Mary Ann lived at the Southern Lifestyle Assisted Living Facility of Lake Placid since August 2012, moving from an apartment in Sebring, where she had resided since 2002. She had many friends and participated in the daily activities provided by the facility.

She was a talented artist and had won ribbons on several of the many paintings she had made. She loved to make special quilts – one being a “Holly Hobby.”

Mary Ann was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. Surviving family members are a son, Rick (Jane) Jordan; a brother, James M. Bruce Jr., of Fairlawn; two sisters, Louise Lavender, of Deering, and Dorothy Hankins (John), of Sebring; and several nieces, nephews and many friends.

The Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home will be in charge of the viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and a viewing at 10 a.m. prior to the 11 a.m. service on Friday at the Ice Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. John Hankins, of Sebring, Fla., officiating with pastor Larry Ruse, of Sebring, Fla., and pastor Todd Warner, of Ironton, assisting. Burial will follow at the Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery.
