CLEVELAND (AP) — Browns wide receiver Davone Bess is done for the season with two games left.
The team placed him on the reserve/non-football illness list Saturday after traveling to New York to play the Jets on Sunday.
Bess missed two days of practice this week for what coach Rob Chudzinski said were “personal reasons.” The Browns gave no further details.
Bess had a disappointing first season with the Browns, who acquired him a trade from Miami during this year’s draft. Cleveland signed Bess to a three-year, $11.5 million contract extension through 2016.
The Browns expected Bess to be a playmaker and leader. However, he leads the NFL with 14 drops while catching 42 passes for 362 yards and two touchdowns.
