CINCINNATI (AP) — Outfielder Chris Heisey has agreed to a $1.76 million, one-year contract, leaving the Cincinnati Reds with five players in salary arbitration.

Heisey was in line to take over as the full-time left fielder after Ryan Ludwick tore the labrum in his right shoulder while sliding into base on opening day. Instead, Heisey pulled his right hamstring and was on the disabled list from April 29 to June 24.

He ended up batting .237 with nine homers and 23 RBIs in 87 games last season, when he made $1,325,000.

His agreement was announced Thursday.

Right-handed starters Homer Bailey and Mike Leake, right-handed relievers Sam LeCure and Alfredo Simon, and closer Aroldis Chapman were set to exchange proposed arbitration salaries with the Reds on Friday.
