PEDRO — All wins are good wins. Just ask the Coal Grove Lady Hornets.

Coal Grove picked up an Ohio Valley Conference road win Thursday thanks to a strong third quarter as the Lady Hornets beat the Rock Hill Redwomen 43-30.

“It was good to get a win, even if it was sloppy,” said Lady Hornets’ coach Rick Roach. “We had a nice third quarter. (Morgan) Sites got back in the flow of the game and gave us some needed points.

Jacy Jones had 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Hornets (6-10, 3-3). Leslie Mulkey had seven rebounds and Sites scored nine points.

“Every kid who played for us was able to contribute and score,” said Roach.

Kasey Russell scored 10 points and Samantha Dillon had eight points for Rock Hill (3-13, 1-6).

The game was close through the first half. After a 7-7 first quarter, Coal Grove took an 18-16 halftime lead.

Jones scored 10 points and Sites five in the third quarter as Coal Grove pulled away to a 35-21 lead.

Dillon had five points in the fourth quarter but the Lady Hornets were 8-of-15 from the line to preserve the win. Jones was 6-of-8.
