Randall Ackerson

Randall D. Ackerson, 52, of Ashland, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Mr. Ackerson was born Dec. 27, 1961, a son of Marie Crank Ackerson of South Point, OH, and the late Pete Ackerson.

Randy worked for the Music Box Express in Ashland. He attended the Salt & Light Worship Center where he faithfully played in the band. Randy was a great musician especially with the steel guitar. He loved to hunt and was known for his excellent craftsmanship of building longbows.

Randy touched so many lives with his kindness, gratitude and through his love of music.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include, his loving wife of 31 years, Laura “Janie” Kelly Ackerson of Ashland, his beautiful daughter, Emily Rae Ackerson of Ashland, his twin sister, Sandy Merritt and husband Mike of Ironton, OH, two brothers, Gary Ackerson of South Point, OH, Darrell Ackerson and wife Kelly of Cannonsburg, several nieces, nephews and a host of special friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 27, 2014 at the Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel by Dr. Dale Maddy and Pastor Greg Matney. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be Monday from 12 Noon till 2pm at the funeral home.

Walter Truesdell

Feb. 23, 1921 — Jan. 24, 2014

Walter Andrew Truesdell, 92, of South Point, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014. Walter was born Feb. 23, 1921, in Chesapeake, son of the late Walter Stanley and Eva Bessie Truesdell.

In addition to his parents, Walter was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen King Truesdell; one brother, Leo Frank Truesdell; and three sisters, Lucille McMaster, Marietta Snider and Katherine Birchfield. Walter is survived by his three children; son, Hancel Edgar Truesdell; two daughters, Mary Sue Napier and Eva L. Truesdell Martyn; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; two special grandchildren, Jonathan Ascencio and Muriell Orlando; and a very special family friend, Joe Thompson. Church remained significant throughout Walter’s life as he attended several local churches.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville. Burial will follow in Perkins Ridge Cemetery in Scottown. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Hall Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

 

 

Cortney Price

June 7, 1987 — Jan. 23, 2014

Kyla Cortney Price, 26, of Pedro, went to meet her Savior Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014 at Ross Heart Center in Columbus. She was born June 7, 1987, the daughter of Robert and Delphine Sparks Price, whom survives.

Cortney was a 2005 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School.

Cortney was met in heaven by her maternal grandparents, Woodrow and Gladys Sparks; paternal grandparents, Rowe Price and Eva Ellis; a special uncle, Charles Pruitt, whom helped raise her; and a special aunt, Jessie Blanton.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by a daughter, Amilya Price; her Nana, Darlene Pruitt; her birth mother, Sonja Price; her grandma, Ella Ratliff; two sisters, Carla Price and Madison Camp; a nephew, Jaiden Price; a niece, Olivia Cremeans; and many aunts, uncles and cousins who love her very much.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton with the Rev. Brian Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Puckett Cemetery beside her grandmother. Phyllis Clary

Jan. 16, 1943 — Jan. 24, 2014

Phyllis M. Clary, 71, of Scottown, passed away on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at the Holzer Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 16, 1943, in Columbiana County, daughter of the late Harlan and Dorothy Delawder Waugh. Phyllis was married to Cecil Clary, who survives. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her husband, Cecil Clary, of Scottown; a son, Junior Clary, of Scottown; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Keith (Wanda) Waugh, of Scottown, and Hobart “Butch” (Jamie) Waugh, of South Carolina.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Clary.

Paul Hayes

Paul D. “Pete” Hayes, 91, and my love, my wife of 68 years, Carol Jane Hayes, 88, of Tallow Hill Road in Chesapeake, passed away Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at home.

Paul was born Nov. 1, 1922, in Ohio, and Carol was born Oct. 2, 1925, in West Virginia. We are survived by one daughter, Nikki Graham, the sweet one, and her husband, Ed, of Burlington; one son, Dan B. Hayes, the industrious one, and his wife, Ann, of Palm Harbour, Fla.; and four grandchildren. In addition to their parents, Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by two brothers, and Mrs. Hayes by one brother and one sister. Mr. Hayes was a loving father and grandfather, and also a World War II Amphibious Veteran serving in the Pacific and three invasions. He was also a retired custom cabinetmaker. Mrs. Hayes was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother. There will be a memorial service at a later date. Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville assisted the family with arrangements. Mabel Saunders

Mabel Saunders, 101, of Gallipolis, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Overbrook Rehabilitation Center in Middleport. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Church of the Nazarene in Gallipolis with pastor Doug Downs officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery.
