Elizabeth Howard

Elizabeth “Libby” Ann Howard, 57, of Pedro, passed away Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at her residence. The Lawrence County native was born Nov. 17, 1956, the daughter of the late Homer B. and Juanita Mosley Friend. She is survived by her husband, Elroy “Junior” Howard Jr., whom she married July 25, 2009.
Mrs. Howard attended Rock Hill High School and was a former custodian for the Rock Hill School District. She was a member of the Kelley’s Bridge Independent Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Friend.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter, Tabitha (Ricky) Blevins, of Ironton; two sons, Joey Dust and Doug Dust, both of Ironton; a sister, Elsie (Lonnie) Friend Smith, of Franklin Furnace; two brothers, Homer (Dreama) Friend, of Ironton and Arthur (Frances) Mosley, of Pedro; and three grandsons, David Blevins, Junior Blevins and Sammy Dust.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with pastor Kenny Waller officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Furnace Cemetery and visitation will be  6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

Jeffrey Todd Baldridge, 51, of Greenup, Ky., died on Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods, Ky. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Billy Jordan

Billy R. Jordan, 75, of South Point,  went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014. He was born Dec. 2, 1938, in Boyd County, Ky., the son of the late Isaac and Emma Frazer Jordan. He was the husband of Patricia Bowling Jordan whom he was married to for 53 years.
He was a member, choir director and deacon of Leatherwood Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of South Point Masonic Lodge No. 497.  He was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired after 34 years at Armco Steel Ashland Works. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Carroll, of Ashland, Ky., and Lillian Savage, of Flatwoods, Ky. He is also survived by one son, Timothy Jordan, of South Point; two daughters, Teresa Hamrick, of Sebastian, Fla. and Lisa Wiley, of South Point; grandchildren, Danielle Wiley, Sarah Jordan, Zachary Isaac Hamrick and Joseph Benjamin Hamrick; one great grandchild, Savannah Hamrick; one brother, Richard Jordan, of Dayton; one sister, Ruby Edwards, of Middletown; his mother-in-law Sarah Bowling, of South Point; numerous nieces and nephews; and an abundance of friends. Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home. There will be a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at Leatherwood Missionary Baptist Church Saturday at 11a.m. with pastors Mike Huff and John Carter officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens South Point. VFW Post 8850 will perform military graveside service.

Marietta Carpenter

Marietta Carpenter, 95, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. The Argillite, Ky. native was born Nov. 23, 1918, a daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Eastham and Wilma Robinson Eastham. She was the widow of the late John P. Carpenter.
Marietta attended Ironton City Schools and was a retired lacer from Wilson’s Sporting Goods. She was an active member of the local union at Wilson’s for many years. She was active in the Ironton Moose for many years and was a member of the Women of the Moose Auxiliary. She was of the Methodist Faith.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter, Connie Sue Moore; and son, Bill Carpenter.
She is survived by sister, Gloria Sexton, of Ironton; daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Wayne Wise, of Forestdale; sister-in-law, Eva Carpenter, of Ashland, Ky.; grandchildren, Terri Vogler, Johnny Carpenter, Paul Eddie McMakin, Kathy Moore, Denise Paulus, Steve Moore, David Wise, Tonya Waller and Shane Moore; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with pastor Greg Matney officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
