Jared VanTassell

Jared “J.D.” VanTassell, 67, of Ironton, passed away Monday, March 24, 2014, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. The Lansing, Mich., native was born Sept. 29, 1946, the son of the late Glendon Maxwell and Celestia Alexander VanTassell.

J.D. was a graduate of Lansing Everett in Lansing, Mich., and was also a USMC veteran. He was a customer service representative for Speedway for 18 years, retiring in 2008.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joel Ray VanTassell.

He is survived by three brothers, Howard (Barbara) VanTassell, of Lake Wales, Fla., Michael (Donna) VanTassell, of Jackson, Mich., and Jan (Marilyn) VanTassell, of Owosso, Mich.; a special friend and companion, Keith Miller, of Ironton; several nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Hecla Cemetery and visitation will be 11 a.m. until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jerry Miller, Bill Pruitt, Seth VanTassell, Joey Miller, Darrell Miller and Derek Canute.

 

 

Linda DePriest

Linda H. DePriest, 69, of Ironton, passed away Monday, March 24, 2014, at Kingsbrook Lifecare Center in Ashland, Ky. The Muncie, Ind., native was born June 25, 1944, the daughter of the late Dewey and Mable Keys Tate. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Lloyd DePriest, whom she married Aug. 2, 1963.

Mrs. DePriest was a 1962 graduate of Ironton High School. She was a former cashier for Hanks Market and Pick-n-Save, retiring in 1993, and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Tate.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Debbie Alfrey, of Ironton; a granddaughter, Sara Aldridge, of Ironton; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rod and Becky DePriest, of Ironton; a sister-in-law, Joyce Floyd, of Ironton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. James Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home. Sally Jo Carter, 63, of Coal Grove, died Monday, March 24, 2014, at St. Mary’s Medical Center-Ironton Campus. Arrangements are pending at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home.

 

 

Harry Wilks

Harry Lee Wilks Sr., 65, of Chesapeake, died Monday, March 24, 2014, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, W.Va. Arrangements are pending at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home in South Point.

 

 

Richard Henson

Richard Dale Henson, 54, of Chesapeake, died Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home in South Point with pastor Lou Ashworth officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point. Dusty Thompson

Dusty Danielle Justice Thompson, 22, of Ashland, Ky., died Monday, March 24, 2014, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. She is survived by her husband, Seth Thompson. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home.
