Accreditation by the IAC means that OLBH’s echocardiography lab has undergone a thorough review of its operational and technical components by a panel of experts. The IAC grants accreditation only to those facilities that are found to be providing quality patient care in compliance with national standards through a comprehensive application process including detailed case study review.

“I am so proud of the echo staff for achieving this accreditation from the IAC,” Shelley Carrico, OLBH director of cardiovascular services, said. “Accreditation is important because it lets patients who need echo testing know their care will be the best the area has to offer.”

The IAC is comprised of six member divisions, each ensuring high quality patient care and promoting health care within a specific medical specialty, all dedicated to one common mission: improving health care through accreditation. The IAC echocardiography program was established in 1996 and sponsoring organizations include the American Society of Echocardiography, American College of Cardiology, Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and the Society of Pediatric Echocardiography.
