Eugene Cline

Eugene Emerson Cline, 64 of Ironton, passed away Monday March 31, 2014, at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.

He was born Sept. 20, 1949, a son of the late Faye and Jake Cline. He was a United States Army Veteran, a retired laborer with 33 years of service to the Ironton Iron Company, a proud member of Ironton Masonic Lodge and the Woodland Chapel Church.

He was preceded in death by a stepson, Samuel Edward Long.

He is survived by a son, Jake Cline; and a daughter, Carrie Staggs, both of Ironton; several brothers and sisters; four grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Woodland Chapel Church with pastor David Shugg officiating. Graveside rites with full military honors by the Army Memorial Detail and the Kenova Post along with Masonic Honors will be 1 p.m. Monday in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast with pastor Shugg officiating. Memorial donations should be made to the funeral chapel to help with final expenses. Friends and family may share memories on Brown Funeral Chapel’s Facebook page.

His children have entrusted his care to Brown Funeral Chapel in Ironton.

 

William Wylie

William E. Wylie, 89, of South Point, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, in Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, W.Va. William was born Feb. 5, 1925, in Athalia, a son of the late Robert and Eva Gilmore Wylie.

He was retired from the U.S. government, a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of Burlington Wesleyan Independent Church and a member of South Point Masonic Lodge No. 497. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Donald and Kenny Wylie. William is survived by his wife, Dorothy Kheune Wylie; three children and their spouses, Daniel and Paulette Wylie, Edward and Ramona Wylie, and Sandra and William Ferguson; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Donna Lee Sanford.

A memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home with Dr. E. Scott Mann officiating. At William’s request, there will be no visitation. Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home in Chesapeake is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Hospice of Huntington. Eugene Spitler

Eugene Wallace Spitler, of Chesapeake, died Thursday, April 3, 2014, at home. He is survived by his wife, Mary Spitler. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville.

 

 Merril Triplett

Merril Triplett, 84, of Ironton, died Thursday, April 3, 2014, at his home. He is survived by his wife, Georgia Triplett, Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home.
