BIDWELL — It got dark on the River Valley Raiders long before the game ended.

Ina game called after six innings due to darkness, the South Point Pointers rolled to a 9-2 win over the Raiders Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

South Point (4-1, 2-0) had eight hits with Alex Whitt going 2-4 with two runs batted in and Chris Woodard was 2-3 and two RBIs.

South Point snapped a scoreless tie with two runs in the third inning.

Tyler Branch singled, Christian Prichard sacrificed him to second and Whitt had an RBI single. Whitt moved up on an error and scored on a hit by Brandon Boggs.

The Raiders’ Trey Farley hit a two-run homer in the fourth to tie the game.

Raiders’ starting pitcher Tim Kemper was ejected in the bottom of the fourth for lowering his shoulder into the Pointers’ catcher and South Point jumped on reliever Jordan Gilliland for four runs in the fifth.

Trey Kearns was safe on an error, moved up on a passed ball and scored on Whitt’s base hit. Boggs reached on a dropped fly ball as Whitt scored. Woodard doubled home Boggs, Patrick Jones reached on a dropped third strike as Woodard scored.

South Point added three runs in the sixth when Brandon Layne walked, Branch was hit by a pitch, Prichard walked to load the bases and Layne scored on an error.

Kearns doubled home the final two runs.

Whitt struck out the side in the sixth to seal the win.
