Brooke Hanshaw kept hitting. Her teammates decided to copy her.

Hanshaw went 3-for-5 with three runs batted in and Rock Hill had 15 hits as the Redwomen beat the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers 9-2 on Monday.

Kaci Russell was 4-5, Anna Darby had a double and Hannah Roach a triple for the Redwomen. Sami Nixon got the win and also hit a home run.

“Hanshaw has had some clutch hits lately. She’s hitting the ball well,” said Rock Hill coach Sam Gue.

“Sami threw a good game. Ironton put the ball in play and made us field it and we did a pretty good job defensively.”

Hanshaw had an RBI single and Roach hit a two-run triple as Rock Hill took a 3-0 lead in the first inning.

A run scored in the second when Darby walked and scored on a hit by Jenna Lane.

The lead went to 7-0 in the fourth.

Nixon had a leadoff home run. Lane bunted for hit, Hanshaw singled and Darby had a two-run double.

Ironton got its two runs in the sixth. Kylie Barcus Barcus and Taylor Monk both singled, moved up on a ground out and scored when Breanna Klaiber reached on an error.

The Redwomen added two runs in the seventh.

Darby walked, Kaci Russell singled and Hanshaw had a two-run single.

Rock Hill hosts Huntington Tuesday and Ironton visits South Point Thursday.
