SOS set for 19th annual Southern 100

WHEELERSBURG — The Southern Ohio Speedway is set for it’s highest paying, most prestigious race of the year today with the 19th Annual Southern 100.

The event — which boasts total purses of nearly $40,000 — will feature Super Late Models with $10,000 to win, Modifieds $1,000 to win, GCP Engines Sport Mods $500 to win, and an Enduro after the races paying $300 to win.

The Southern 100 is one of the most historic motorsports events in our region. At one point in history, the race was the second most popular Dirt Late Model event in the country.

Legends of the sport such as Delmas Conley, “Black Jack” Boggs, Charlie Swartz, Billy Teegarden, and Bob Pierce among others have taken victory in this race.

Gates will open on Friday at 4 p.m. with hot laps starting the nights action at 7:15.
