Brenda Brown

Brenda Sue Maines Brown, 56, of Ironton, passed away Monday, May 12, 2014, at the St. Mary’s Medical Center-Ironton Campus. The Ironton native was born Dec. 25, 1957, the daughter of the late Carl and Nellie Lovejoy Maines. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, William “BenJoe” Brown, whom she married May 6, 1977.

Brenda was a 1976 graduate of Ironton High School and a homemaker. She was of the Christian faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Maines; and her mother-in-law, Bonnie Brown.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Tracy Brown Dickerson, of Ironton; a son, Scott Brown of Ironton; ex-daughter-in-law, Ronda Brown, of Ironton; two sisters, her twin sister, Linda (Lawrence) Waddell, of Franklin Furnace, and Carla Maines, of Ironton; two brothers, Carl (Sue) Maines, of Ironton, and Michael Maines, who is serving in the U.S. military; three grandchildren, Whytley Hanshaw, Ethan Roberts and Bryson Brown, all of Ironton; two brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; special friends, Rick and Melanie Ibarra, of Springfield; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Yolanda B. Velasco-Blackwell, 56, of Ashland, Ky., died Saturday, May 10, 2014, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. She is survived by her husband, Lindsey C. Blackwell. The funeral mass will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 900 Winchester Ave., Ashland, by Father John Noe. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Ironton. Nancy Mae Deer Bailey, 78, of Flatwoods, Ky., died Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at her residence. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Pentecostal Holiness Tabernacle with the Rev. J.E. Smith and Rev. Shirlene Bates Tackett, 73, of Flatwoods, Ky., died Sunday May 11, 2014, at the Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Ky. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Carman Funeral Home-Flatwoods.
