Gail Large
Gail Charlene Besco Large, 76, of Wheelersburg, formerly of Pedro, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 13, 2014. The Pedro native was born March 20, 1938, the daughter of the late Charles and Nellie Rowe Besco. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. Large.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Myrtle Murphy; and a a brother, Charles (Lefty) Besco.
Mrs. Large attended Blackfork School, was a homemaker and of the Freewill Baptist faith.
Survivors include her four children, Greg (Teresa) Large, of Oak Hill, Charlene Cox, of Wheelersburg, Kathleen (Gene) Clay, of Ironton, and Kevin (Dave) Large, of Wheelersburg. In addition to her children, Gail has a special niece at home, Sheila Sue McFann Large; and a special grandson, Robbie Cox, whom she raised. Survivors also include a sister, Wanda McFann Parker, of Wheelersburg; six grandchildren, Craig and Billie Cox, Kelli Miller, Paula Little, Tara Gail Mays and Elizabeth Large; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be noon-2 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton. Funeral services will follow with pastor Brian White officiating. Burial will be at Lawrence Furnace Cemetery in Pedro. Douglas Wikoff
Douglas Alan Wikoff, 43, of Richmond, Va., formerly of Ironton, passed away Monday, May 12, 2014, at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond, Va., surrounded by his family. He was born Nov. 24, 1970, in Ironton to Jeffrey Wikoff and the late Bonnie Kennedy Wikoff. In addition to his loving mother, he was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Douglas graduated from Rock Hill High School in 1990 and was working as a tower technician with Mastec, a profession he loved. He has always had a passion for his hot rods and Harleys. He loved and will be missed by his dog, Dixie.
Douglas was a loving father, fiancé, brother, son, grandpa and friend to all. He was extremely loving and proud of his children, Heather (Nicholas) Burns, and Brandon Wikoff, who survive him; as well as his fianceé, Amanda Hill, and her son, Seth Davis; his father and stepmother, Jeffrey Alan and Sheila Wikoff; his two sisters, Rachel (Scott) Murray and nephew Jonathon, and Jennifer Murray and niece K’Lee; stepsister Sarah (Chad) Trador, nephew, Braxton, and niece, Madelyn; his grandbabies Ian, Colten and Liam Burns; many aunts and uncles; and a host of family and friends across the country.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville by pastor Chad Pemberton and pastor Phil Wilson. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens in Miller. Willard Hughes
Willard Garfield “Big Daddy” Hughes, 76, of South Point, died Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Ky. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Willis Hughes. A memorial service will be at noon on Saturday at Sheridan Freewill Baptist Church in South Point with pastor Randy Patrick officiating.
