Christopher Fuhr

Christopher Franklin Fuhr, 41, of Ironton, passed away Friday, May 16, 2014, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky. The Ironton native was born May 25, 1972, a son of Naomi Rice Fuhr, of Ironton and the late Oscar Franklin Fuhr.

Christopher was a 1991 graduate of Rock Hill High School and the Lawrence County Joint Vocational School. He was a member of the Hanging Rock Nazarene Church.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Fuhr.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Kelli Wells Fuhr, whom he married March 18, 2006; four sisters, Mary (Greg) Hammond, of Ashland, Ky., Amanda Hammond, of Ashland, Ky., Stacy Hammond and her fiancé, Adam Campbell, of Grayson, Ky., and Jamie (James) Henson, of Grayson, Ky.; two brothers, Bobby (Sharon) Fuhr, of Pedro, and James (Heather) Hammond, of Ironton; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home with pastor J.R. officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

 

 

Janet Woodard

Janet Sue “Pompy” Woodard, 66, of South Point, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. She was born Oct. 3, 1947, in Lawrence County, to the late Arnold and Tomma Lewis.

She is survived by two children, Carole Wilson, of Columbus, and Scott Wilson, of Scottown; four grandchildren, Whitney Daniels, Jeffery Wilson, Brandi Wilson and Adam Wilson; one great-grandson, Branson Holland; one brother; and two sisters.

She retired as a court bailiff at the Lawrence County Courthouse and was a member of the Red Hat Society (the Sassy Old Broads).

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home by pastor Randy Thompson. Burial will be in Perkins Ridge Cemetery in Willow Wood. Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family wishes to express a special thank you to the nurses and staff at King’s Daughters Medical Center oncology and ICU.
