William Spanner

William Henry Spanner, 79, of Ironton, passed away Monday, May 19, 2014 at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. The Ironton native was born Nov. 24, 1934, the son of the late William J. and Gertrude Dilley Spanner. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Phyllis C. Spanner, whom he married May 22, 1954.

Mr. Spanner was a 1952 graduate of Ironton High School and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He was a former employee of Allied Signal for more than 40 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member and former deacon of Central Christian Church, where he was active in the food pantry.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Pamela and Mike Rist, of Ironton, and Kristi Boyd, of Canton; seven grandchildren, Lauren Harvey, Leslie Rist, Ryan Rist, Mikayla Rist, Brent McBride, Brandon McBride and Blake McBride; and four great-grandchildren, Lucas White, Laiken White, Leah White and Liam White.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with minister Phil Lemaster officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery with military graveside rites by the VFW Post 8850. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Ronald Wilson

Ronald Lee “Pete” Wilson, 78, of Ironton, passed away Monday, May 19, 2014, at his residence. The Lawrence County native was born June 6, 1935, the son of the late Ovid Grayson and Gertrude Orthmeyer Wilson. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judith Markel Wilson.

Mr. Wilson attended Pedro High School and was a former employee of Alpha Portland Cement and a machinist for National Mines. He also was a former bus driver for the Rock Hill School District and attended Pleasant Valley Freewill Baptist in Pedro.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Jeanine Nelson; two brothers, Franklin Wilson and Ralph Wilson; two sisters, Donna Houston and Marilyn Kay “Babe” Wilson; and maternal grandfather, Frank Orthmeyer.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Randall Lee and Kathy Wilson and Ovid Stephen and Carol Wilson, all of Ironton; a daughter, Sandra Lynn and Gary Sergent of Pedro; three sisters, Juanita Lewis of Ironton, Joann and Jack Wade of Ravenswood, W.Va., and Janet and Frank Harmon of Coal Grove; four grandchildren, Randall Lee Wilson Jr. of Ironton, David Arthur Wilson of Grayson, Ky., Ryan Andrew and Alicia Wilson of Ironton and Natalie Clare Wilson of Ironton; and three great grandchildren, MaKayla Wilson, Elizabeth Wilson and Levi Wilson

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Comer officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery and visitation will be Friday from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. Kristi Brown

Kristi Ann (Bellamy) Brown, 52, died on Monday, May 19, 2014, in King’s Daughters Medical Center. She was born in Lawrence County on Oct. 17,1961, the daughter of the late Joseph and Evelyn M, Compliment Beals Bellamy. She was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church, a homemaker and a graduate of Lawrence County Vocational School. In addition to her parents she was preceded by one infant son, Allen Brown; and one brother, Barry Beals. Survivors include her husband, Tony Brown of Coal Grove; one daughter and son-in-law, Beverly (Josh) Woodard of Coal Grove; and two grandchildren, Jason (Scotty) Woodard and Natalie Woodard of Coal Grove. In keeping with her wishes a memorial funeral Mass will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Carol O’Brien

Carol Jean O’Brien, 75, of South Point, died Monday, May 19, 2014, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, W.Va. There will be private family services. Bernice Rickard

Bernice L. Rickard, 80, of South Point, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at her residence. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Ross officiating.
