Joseph Dunfee

Feb. 29, 1964-June 26, 2014

 

Joseph Allen Dunfee, 50, of Willow Wood, God called him home peacefully with his mom, stepdad, brother, and fiancée by his bedside  on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at St. Mary’s Medical Center Huntington, W.Va. He was born Feb. 29, 1964, in Huntington.  He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Dunfee.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Judy and Jack Thornton, of Chesapeake; son Joseph D.  Dunfee,  of Chesapeake; brother Paul Timothy Dunfee, of Willow Wood, whom he admired and loved dearly; fiancée Carolyn Autery, of Tennessee; four stepsiblings Tana (John) Grubbs, Melanie Hackworth, Julie (Rob) Horne and Dale (Heather) Thornton.     He was a member of Perkins Ridge Baptist Church and later moved his membership to Harvest Time Baptist Church.

He loved studying Bible prophecy.  He was a former manager at the Gallipolis K-Mart shoe department and was formerly employed with Nulls Machine and McSweeney Machine.  Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.  Burial will follow in Perkins Ridge Cemetery, Willow Wood.  Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. today at the funeral home. Betty J. Rutherford

 

Born Betty J. Delong in Ironton, on May 22, 1934 to Robert Willis Delong and his wife Mary Jane Delong (nee Ruggles). She served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and settled in Maryland after being discharged from Ft. Meade, Md.

She lived in Glen Burnie for the past 49 years. A homemaker for most of her life, she enjoyed time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, watching TV news shows, crocheting and gardening. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Dallie G. “Frank” Rutherford and siblings, Bob “Junior” and Billie Joe Delong, Wanda “Dodie” Pearson and Ella “Tootsie” Salyers. She is survived by her daughter Deborah J. Boyer, of Glen Burnie; brothers Donald, Jack and Walter Delong, of Ohio; grandchildren Kyle D. Boyer, Drew K. Boyer and his companion Marie D. Wilson and Stephanie J. Boyer and her companion Thiraphat Pongsudhiraks; and her great grandchildren Samantha L. Thompson and Jayden D. Boyer.

Aspen Smith

June 23, 2014-June 24, 2014

 

Aspen Hope Smith, infant of Robert and Chasity Smith of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014 in Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington. Aspen was born June 23, 2014 in Huntington.

Aspen was preceded in death by her paternal great grandfather, Ralph Smith

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her two sisters, Kyleigh McNeely and Kennedie Smith, both of Ironton; her maternal grandparents, Larry and Phyllis McNeely, of Ironton; her paternal great grandmother, Nora Smith, of Ironton; and special friends, Jeff and Jami Jenkins, of Ironton, JT and Valorie Jenkins  and Jenna Jenkins, all of Lexington, Ky.

Graveside services were 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Woodland Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Fields officiating. There was no public visitation and Phillips Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.

 

Paul Stombock

Paul Everett Stombock, 87, of Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Huntington, W.Va., died on Sunday, June 22, 2014.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane Stombock.

Funeral service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Monday at New Baptist Church in Huntington. Visitation is at 5 p.m. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, with Proctorville VFW Post 6878 conducting military graveside rites.

Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, is in charge of arrangements.

Hubert Stewart

May 20, 1956-June 24, 2014

 

Hubert Brent Stewart, 58, of Coal Grove, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at the Heartland Hospice of Westerville in Columbus. The Medina County native was born May 20, 1956, the son of Hazel Flemming Stewart of Kitts Hill and the late Hubert H. Stewart.

Mr. Stewart was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and received his associate degree from Ohio University. He was a former employee for J.H. Fletcher and Company and a member of the Moose, Knights of Columbus, VFW and the AmVets. He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his fiancée, Brenda Smith , of Franklin Furnace; a son, Aaron Brent Stewart, of Coal Grove; a daughter, Anna (Jared) Jenkins, of Coal Grove;

four brothers, Mike Stewart, of Proctorville, Leonard Stewart, of Ironton, Jimmy Stewart, of Ripley, W.Va., and Bruce Stewart, of Huntington; a sister, Kathy Malone, of Kitts Hill; and two grandsons, Kiser Jenkins and Daxon Jenkins.

Memorial service was at 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with Elder Glen Jenkins officiating. Friends could call Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
