Robert Lyons
Robert Marshall Lyons, 79, formerly of Cumberland, passed away Saturday June 28, 2014, in Brecksville.
Robert was born in Aug. 13, 1934, in High Hill to the late Robert and Edna Marshall Lyons. He was a graduate of The Ohio State University and retired from Meadowbrook High School as the vocational agriculture instructor. He was a longtime member of Cumberland United Methodist Church and attended Coburn United Methodist Church and Cuyahoga Valley Church. He was a member of Ohio Young Farmers, Meadowbrook FFA Alumni, Independence Civic Center, held an honorary State FFA Degree and was enshrined in the Rolling Hills Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame.
He is survived by three sons, Mike (Tina) Lyons, of Ironton, Paul (Diane) Lyons, of South Charleston, and Mark (Lisa) Lyons, of Independence; four grandchildren, George (Chasity) Suttles, of Ironton, Molly Suttles, of Ironton, Miranda Lyons, of Independence, and Andrew Lyons, of South Charleston; two great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Kyler Suttles, both of Grayson, Ky.; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Janson, of Tuscon, Ariz., and Betty (Jim) Peters and Emma Woodie, of Coshocton; two brothers-in-law, Herby (Joyce) Walters, of Tuscon, Ariz., and Herb Miller, of Thornville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Walters Lyons; three sisters, Annabelle Howell, Frances Bailey and Maxine McKee; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cumberland United Methodist Church or Meadowbrook FFA.
Calling hours will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at The Snouffer Funeral Home, 1150 West Military Road in Zanesville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Coburn United Methodist Church, 3618 Maple Avenue in Zanesville with the Rev. Dr. Dennis Baker and pastor Keith Taylor officiating. Imo Rosalie Sexton, 87, of Proctorville, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Heartland of Riverview in South Point. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville by Pastor Bob Weaver. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery. Melissa Dawn Hensley, 43, of Ironton, died Monday, June 30, 3014, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. Arrangements are pending at Brown Funeral Chapel in Ironton.
