Moving into its second year, the Lawrence County Academy is continuing efforts to provide an education to those who may struggle with the conventional educational process.

This is a vital service that is being provided to our youth who may otherwise end up not realizing their educational goals.

While there are certain situations that may cause a student to leave school before graduation, the academy affords all students the opportunity to reach that ultimate goal.

Undoubtedly, many things were learned in the first year can be revamped or expanded on, and using those items as learning tools for the academy will serve all involved to a better experience.

Another positive is the ability for Lawrence County residents to stay close to home and pursue their education without having to leave the area.

While the majority is through a virtual or online environment which affords some flexibility, meeting each week in person with classmates and teachers can provide needed interaction.

Ultimately, the ability to receive a quality education is one of the most important things we can do for our children. Whether it is through the traditional process or a program opportunity through something like the Lawrence County Academy, the benefits for students and their future is critical.
