James Rollyson

James H. Rollyson, 89 of Delray Beach, Fla., formerly of No. 6 Via Lago in Boynton Beach, Fla., passed away peacefully on Aug. 27, 2014, with his family at his bedside. James was born July 17, 1925, in Ironton, to the late Mr. William Rollyson and Vesta (nee Yoho) Rollyson.

James graduated from Ironton High School in 1943 and served in World War II from 1943-1946. In 1944 he married his wife, Genevieve Belville, and she birthed one child they named Carla Sue. In 1948 James and his wife opened a small venetian blinds factory in their garage in Ironton, and as his business grew more aluminum products were added, it was moved to the vacated Ironton News building. The business began to grow and a large plant was constructed in Sheridan in 1956.

In 1971, James opened a subsidiary in Lantana, Fla.; both Ohio and Florida plants were sold in 1979. James’ wife, Genevieve, worked as secretary and treasurer of all of the corporations and business ventures during their lifetime together.

James was preceded in death by his daughter, Carla Sue Wolff, on Jan. 31, 2014; and two of his brothers, William Rollyson, in 1987, and Bruce Rollyson, in 1993.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mabel Belcher in 1992, and Alyce Hall in 2001; and two nephews, Derald Rollyson in 2001, and David Hall in 2006.

James is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 70 years, Genevieve Rollyson; his three loved grandchildren, Brad Layne, Jami Ingham and Julie Passante; and his two treasured great-grandchildren, Casey Laney and Mariya Castagneri. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and a host of friends and former business acquaintances.

A visitation was 11 a.m.-12 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at Palm Beach Memorial Park Funeral Home in Lantana, Fla.

An entombment service was noon on Saturday, Aug. 30, at Palm Beach Memorial Park Mausoleum in Lantana, Fla., with the United States Coast Guard presenting military honors to the family of James H. Ruth McMackin

Ruth A. McMackin, 92, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, at St. Joseph Hospital East in Lexington, Ky. The Ironton native was born Oct. 10, 1921, the daughter of the late George J. and Matilda Walker Monnig. She was a Ironton St. Joseph Catholic High School graduate and retired secretary of Ironton St. Joseph Catholic High School. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ironton. She was preceded by her husband, John McMackin; one daughter, Barbara McMackin; and one grandson, Rodd McMackin, to whom she was especially devoted. Also preceding her were one sister, Anna Marie Laber; and two brothers, Wilfred and Francis Monnig.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Marta McMackin, of Lexington; two grandsons, Rod McMackin, of Lexington, and Rick (Jennifer) McMackin, of Columbia, S.C.; one great-grandson, Michael McMackin, of Lexington; one sister, Rita Haas, of Ironton; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be noon Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father David Huffman officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11:30 a.m. Friday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Donations are requested to the Ironton Catholic schools in lieu of flowers

 

 

Barbra Ann Dillon

Barbra Ann Dillon died in Dallas, Texas, on July 16, 2014. A graveside service will be held at Zoar Baptist Church on Sept. 20.

 

 

Mary Cordle

Mary Alice Cordle, 90, of Flatwoods, Ky., died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. Arrangements are pending at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, Ky.

 

 

Louis Johnson

Louis Johnson, 71, of South Point, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, at his residence. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home with pastor Aaron Childers officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.schneidergriffin.com.

 

 

Ivan Reynolds

Ivan Junior Reynolds, 81, of Chesapeake, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at home. He is survived by his wife, Kay Reynolds. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville.
