BGSU, Knapke down Ohio

ATHENS (AP) — James Knapke threw for 260 yards and two touchdowns to lead Bowling Green to a 31-13 victory over Ohio on Saturday.

On the Falcons’ opening drive, Knapke pumped right before dumping it to Travis Greene. Greene ran to the left sideline, broke a tackle and spun out of another for a 23-yard score.

Andre Givens ran for a 2-yard touchdown, and Knapke found Ryan Burbrink with an 8-yard TD strike to give Bowling Green a 21-6 halftime lead.

Greene cut left and ran untouched for a 30-yard touchdown to stretch the Falcons’ (5-2, 3-0 Mid-American Conference) lead to 28-6 late in the third quarter.

Josiah Yazdani kicked field goals of 25 and 37 in the first half, and Tim Edmond punched it in from 2 yards for the Bobcats. JD Sprague was 27 of 56 for 325 yards to lead Ohio (3-4, 1-2).

Ohio hosts Akron next Saturday.

Akron 29, Miami (Ohio) 19

AKRON (AP) — Jawon Chisholm rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns as Akron held off Miami (Ohio) 29-19 on Saturday.

Chisholm scored a pair of 10-yard touchdowns for the Zips (4-2, 2-0 Mid-American Conference), the first making it 12-0 early in the second quarter, the second with 5 minutes remaining to secure the win. The yardage was more than double his season best of 45.

Andrew Hendrix threw for 352 yards and three touchdowns for the Red Hawks (1-6, 1-2). David Frazier had nine catches for 132 yards and two scores.

Hendrix hit Frazier for 18 yards to cut the Akron lead to 12-6 at 8:42 of the second quarter and after Robert Stein kicked his second field goal for the Zips, Hendrix connected with Rokeem Williams 23 seconds before halftime to make it 15-13. The final score came with 3:08 to play.
