Herd rips Tech

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — Ryan Taylor scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds on Tuesday to lead Marshall to an 87-65 win over NAIA West Virginia University Institute of Technology.
DeVince Boykins, JP Kambola and Jay Johnson scored nine apiece for Marshall (3-0). Cheikh Sane scored nine and had 16 rebounds.
Taylor scored 15 in the first half and Marshall outshot the Golden Bears (5-1) 46 percent to 40 percent from the field.
Jauries Thomas and Jaren Marino each had 15 for WVU Tech and Sharife Sergeant scored 12 and grabbed eight rebounds.
Marino opened with a 3-pointer for the Golden Bears (5-1), but Taylor replied with a trey and Marshall was off, ripping a 16-0 run toward a 48-27 at halftime.
The Golden Bears opened the second half with an 8-1 run and used a 16-0 run to pull within 56-67 with 5:27 to play. But Marshall pulled away on a 12-2 run.
