Ironton City Council meeting tonight

IRONTON — The Ironton City Council will have its regular council meeting tonight following a finance committee meeting starting at 5:30 p.m.

Two ordinances and two resolutions are on the agenda to go over at the meeting.

Council will have the first reading of Ordinance 15-04, authorizing Mayor Rich Blankenship to award bids for the purchase of chemicals for the year 2015. The chemical bids are liquid chlorine from Univar for $0.38/lb., hydrofluosilcic acid from Bonded for $0.324/lb., liquid alumn sufate from Usalco for $0.2244/lb., sodium hydroxide from Bonded Chemical for $0.167/lb., powdered activared carbon from Brentag for $0.685/lb., potassium permanganate from Bentag for $3.075/lb., polymer (water treatment) from Applied Specialties for $0.663/lb., hydrated lime from Bonded for $0.160/lb. and sodium bisulfite from Bonded for $0.162/lb.

The next ordinance is Ordinance 15-06, authorizing and directing the mayor to execute an agreement with E.L. Robinson Engineering Company, Inc. regarding the Ironton general engineering services for 2015. A contract will be entered for the professional general engineering services regarding projects for the city of Ironton. The cost is for cost-plus not to exceed $25,000.

The two resolutions that will be discussed at the meeting are Resolution 15-03, which authorizes the mayor to jointly apply for a local government innovation fund grant with the Ironton City Health Department and declaring an emergency and Resolution 15-05, authorizing the approval of the contract for services agreement with the Ironton-Lawrence County Area Community Action Organization, Inc. (CAO).

The council meeting will start at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the third floor of the Ironton City Building.
