Timothy Woodburn

Timothy Lee Woodburn was delivered from this world into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Friday, Jan. 16, 2015. He was 61 years old and resided in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Tim was born in Ironton to Jack E. and Mary Woodburn, both now deceased. He was a member of the Ironton High School Class of 1971. He readily enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corp following high school and served in Okinawa, Japan. He retired in 2009 from the U.S. Postal Service after 26 years of dedicated service.

Tim is survived by his wife, Becky Hayes Woodburn and two stepchildren, Kelly Hoormann (Mike), of Hendersonville, and Brad Salyer (Rachel), of Bowling Green, Kentucky. His only sibling, Jack Jr., resides in Tucson, Arizona Barbara Woodburn, his precious stepmother, resides in Ironton. He was a very special and beloved Papaw to Braden and Logan Hoormann and Ava Grace and Hayslie Salyer. He is also survived by a host of in-laws, nieces and nephews, all who loved him dearly.

Tim was a member of the First Baptist Church of Russell, Kentucky, and a former member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Ashland. He had an insatiable hunger for the Word of God and dearly loved Southern Gospel music. He was also an avid motorcyclist. He never felt closer to God than when he was on the open road with the wind in his face.

A graveside service was held at the Nashville National Cemetery where full military honors were observed at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28. A celebration of his life will be held in Ashland at the First Baptist Church Russell at 3 p.m. on Satruday.

Robert Barlow

Robert Bruce Barlow, 62, of Chesterland, formerly of Ironton, passed away Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, at his residence. The Ironton native was born Feb. 10, 1952, a son of Norma “Billie” Bruce Barlow of Ironton and the late William H. Barlow.

Robert was a 1970 graduate of Ironton High School, a graduate from Ohio University with honors with his bachelor’s in public health and received his master’s of public health from UNC at Chapel Hill, NC. He was a microbiology supervisor for over 30 years for the Cuyahoga County Hospital and was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church in Ironton.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, Brinkly Randall Barlow, of Port St. Lucie, Florida; two nieces, Heather Mihalko and Alison Rudicel; a great nephew, John Randall Mihalko; two great nieces, Elana Mihalko and Emily Rudicel; and a special devoted friend, Kathy Buscher of Lynhurst.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Sallie Schisler officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Claude George

Claude Ferdinand George, Jr., 96, died on Feb. 4, 2015, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Community of Grace United Methodist Church, Huntington. Burial will be at a later date. There will be no visitation. Barbara Turvey

Barbara Joan Turvey, 80, of Ironton, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, in St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington. Arrangements are pending at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home.

 

 

Jerry Lindsey

Jerry Lindsey, 73, of Green Cove Springs, Florida, formerly of Huntington, West Virginia, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2015 in Florida. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.
