Program benefits community

If practice makes perfect, Ironton Municipal Court Judge O. Clark Collins Jr. has had three decades to achieve perfection in the community service program he began 30 years ago.
The program is a valuable asset for both the community and those who are placed into the program, as it affords the ability to keep various sites maintained throughout the county that would otherwise require using funds to pay employees to complete the work.
Additionally, this allows those who are placed into the program with an assignment to complete their community service while ultimately helping keep our county clean.
It is also good to see various entities working together like the partnership between the municipal court and the Lawrence-Scioto Solid Waste Management District. By working and receiving a grant, the LSSWMD helped the program with equipment that will allow crucial funds for the court to use for other needs.
We applaud the efforts of those who have made this program a standard bearer for others throughout the state to model their community service plans after.
This program has been beneficial for many years, and we hope it continues to be an asset that is used to help the county for decades to come.
