Lawrence Hunt

Lawrence “Tony” Hunt, 74, of Ashville, formerly of Ironton, passed away Saturday Feb. 28, 2015, at his home. The Lawrence County native was born Feb. 12, 1941, the son of the late Cecil and Eloise Van Meter Hunt.

Mr. Hunt was a 1960 graduate of Coal Grove High School and a former maintenance supervisor with the Ironton Metropolitan Housing and a former employee of the Dayton Malleable/Ironton Iron Company. He was a member of the Church of Christ on 10th and Vine streets in Ironton, a member of the Masonic Lodge in Ironton and an honorary member of the Waterloo Lodge.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Louwilda “Billie” Paxton; and two brothers, Milton “Butch” Hunt and Robert “Bob” Hunt.

He is survived by his wife, Judith “Judy” Ann DeMent Hunt; two children, Tonya Ann Morrison, of Columbus and Chris Anthony (Erica) Hunt, of Lockbourne; five grandchildren, Stephen and MaKayla Smith, Hannah Hunt, Kaylee and Caleb Hunt; one great-grandson, Nolan Ferguson; three sisters, Cecilia (Charles) Forbush, of Willow Wood, Bonnie Colbert, of Grenada, Mississippi and Gerri Henley Aldridge, of Gainesville, Texas; two brothers, Dan “Mouse” (Mary Ann) Hunt, of Meridian, Mississippi and Gordan Lambert, of Micanopy, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home with ministers Mike Gross and Jason Ridgeway officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Chapel Cemetery and visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home. Rebecca Dawn Dennis, 38, of South Point, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, at Arbors at Gallipolis. Funeral service will be conducted 6 p.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville by Bishop Tony Aiken. Visitation will be from 5-6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
