Frank Taylor Jr.

June 24, 1936 — March 19, 2015

 

Frank Taylor Jr., 78, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015, in St. Mary’s Ironton Campus. Mr. Taylor was born June 24, 1936, in Worthington, Kentucky, a son of the late Frank, Sr. and Louise (McCain) Taylor.

Mr. Taylor was a 1955 graduate of Ironton High School, he was a veteran of the United States Air Force and worked as a mail carrier from the United States Postal Service. Mr. Taylor was a double retiree from both the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Triedstone Baptist Church, VFW Post 8850 and American Legion Post 590.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Florene Thompson, Thelma Taylor, Allene “Tootsie” Mayo and Carol McKee; and three brothers, Marshall Taylor, James Taylor and David Taylor.

He is survived by three sons, Jerry (Jenette) Taylor of South Point, Bruce (Tresa) Taylor of Ironton, and Michael Taylor of Georgia; a sister, Bertha Johnson of Detroit, Michigan; a brother, Jacob (Cheryl) Taylor of Springfield; three grandchildren, Rayshea Taylor, Jeremiah Taylor and Tinesha Taylor, all of South Point; four great-grandchildren, Darrell Taylor, Derrick Taylor, Kaira Taylor and Jaden Taylor; the mother of his three sons, Geraldine Taylor of South Carolina; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends who will greatly miss him.

Funeral services will at noon Wednesday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Carter, Rev. Damien Snead and Bishop Tony Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in National Veteran Cemetery, 100 Veterans Memorial Drive, Grayson, Kentucky. Friends may call Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of the service. Paul Webb

Feb. 22, 1941 — March 19, 2015

 

Paul Edward Webb, 74, of Mineral Wells, Texas, formerly of Coal Grove, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015, in Palo Pinto General Hospital, Mineral Wells, Texas. Mr. Webb was born Feb. 22, 1941, in South Point, a son to the late Paul William and Myrtle Bell (Dennon) Webb.

Mr. Webb attended Coal Grove Schools and was a self-employed machinist. Mr. Webb was a member of Jeffersonville Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Bell Saul and Lois M. Bailey; and a brother, Herman Wesley Baldwin.

He is survived by three sons, James Wesley Webb, Ronald Lee Webb and Paul Richard Webb; a daughter, Christine Louise Greer; brothers, James W. Webb and Robert Lee Webb; sisters, Martha F. Johnson and Bessie M. Hankins; the mother of his children, Fay Webb; numerous grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a host of friends who will miss him.

Evelyn Cochran

Sept. 27, 1926 — Feb. 10, 1945

 

Evelyn Faye Lynd Cochran, 88, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2015, at Sugar Brook Villa in Cohasset, Minnesota.

Evelyn was born Sept. 27, 1926, in South Point, the daughter of William Haskell and Rena Melvina (Moore) Lynd. She married Byron Z. Cochran on Feb. 10, 1945, in Culver City, California. They moved to Deer River in 1946, and later to Amen Lake where they lived for more than 65 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron Z. Cochran; son, William A. Cochran; great-grandson, Matthew Allred; parents; brother, Garland Lynd; and sisters, Freda Bowman and Melba Cochran.

Survivors include five daughters, Teri (Asa) Allred, of Gravois Mills, Missouri; Toni (Jay) Pajuoja and Faye (Larry) Ikola, of Deer River; Vicki (Brent) Massey, of Spokane, Washington, and Jane Cochran, of Grand Rapids; three sisters, Alice Bennett, of Bennington, Vermont, Garnet Woodruff and Betty Woodruff, of South Point; brother, William Lynd, of Claremont, North Carolina; 29 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was March 6 at Carroll Funeral Home with the funeral held the following day at Deer River Township Hall.

 

 

William Lynd

William Harlan “Bill” Lynd, 86, of Claremont, North Carolina, formerly of South Point, died March 8, 2015, at Catawba Memorial Hospital in Hickory, North Carolina. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, Bowen Ridge Cemetery in Wayne County, West Virginia, at Beech Fork Lake with pastor Aaron Childers officiating.

 

 

Tony Gore

Tony Gore, 57, of Coal Grove, died Saturday, March 21, 2015, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. He is survived by his wife, Janet Gore. Arrangements are pending at Phillip’s Funeral Home.

 

Bobby Hayes

Bobby Eugene Hayes, 87, of Scottown, died Saturday March 21, 2015, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, is in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete.

 

 

Mary Wood

Mary Ann Wood, 82, of Chesapeake, died Friday, March 20, 2015, at Heartland of Riverview, South Point. Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller. Clifton Lovejoy

Clifton Ray Lovejoy, 30, of South Point, died Thursday, March 19, 2015. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point. A private burial will be in Lovejoy Cemetery, Coal Grove. Friends may call the funeral home from 4-6 p.m. today.
