Barbara Boyd
Barbara Boyd, 79, of Ironton, passed away, Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at a local health center. The Prestonsburg, Kentucky, native was born Dec. 3, 1935, a daughter of the late Charles and Stella Witt Hall. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Monroe “Jack” Boyd.
Mrs. Boyd was a graduate of Prestonsburg High School and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Ironton. She was a former employee of Jo-Lin Health Center where she started as a volunteer and eventually became the activities director and social services director.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Todd Allen Boyd.
She is survived by a daughter, Beth (Tim) Wilson of Raceland, Kentucky; a son, Monroe “Monty” Boyd of Nashville, Tennessee; a brother, Shalious (Judy) Hall of Palatka, Florida; a sister, Linda Dalton of Kitts Hill; a special friend, Charlie Leach of Ironton; four grandchildren, Jackson (Jill) Boyd, Barrett Boyd and his fiancée Nicole, all of Nashville, and T.J. Wilson and Brooke Wilson, both of Raceland; and one great-grandchild: Jax Boyd of Nashville.
The family would like to thank Oakmont Manor and Community Hospice staffs and friends for the wonderful care they gave their mother.
Funeral services will be noon Saturday at the First Church of the Nazarene in Ironton with pastor Rob Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Tim Wilson, Jackson Boyd, Barrett Boyd, Larry Norris, Jr., T.J. Edward Kurtz Jr.
A. Edward Kurtz Jr., son of Arthur E. and Rosemary (Dietrich) Kurtz, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2015, at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado, after a long illness.
He was a graduate of St. Joseph Central Catholic High School. After high school, he served eight years in the United States Army. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Rudd.
Survivors include Donna Kurtz; daughters, Deb (Glenn) Penny, Michelle (Mark) Pittman; son, Quint Kurtz; sisters, Karen Kurtz and Linda Ackison; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial following in Calvary Cemetery.

Randal Lee Blake, 54, of West Hamlin, West Virginia, died Thursday, March 26, 2015, at St Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home.

Eugene Smith, 68, of Kitts Hill, died Thursday, March 26, 2015, at the St. Mary’s Medical Center Ironton Campus. Arrangements are pending at the Brown Funeral Chapel at Ironton.
