PEDRO — It getting to be a team effort every night for the Rock Hill Redwomen.

Getting a good performance in all facets of the game, the Redwomen beat the Gallipolis Blue Angels 6-2 on Thursday.

“The outfield played well defensively. Gallipolis hit the ball well and outfield made some good plays,” said Rock Hill coach Sam Gue.

The pitching and hitting were just as strong as the defense.

Jill Hairston took care of the pitching as she allowed six hits, struck out 10 and did not walk a batter. Makenzi Harrah led a 12-hit attack as she went 3-for-3 with a double, a home run and two runs batted in.

“Jill’s worth ethic is showing. She keeps us in games and lets the defense make plays behind her,” said Gue. “Makenzi has a great approach at the plate. She hit the ball really well.”

Gallipolis got a run in the top of the first inning when Kendra Barnes tripled and scored on a passed ball.

Rock Hill (5-0) tied the game in the bottom of the inning when Hairston singled and Harrah doubled.

The Redwomen took a 2-1 lead in the second.

Lilly McGinnis singled, Taylor Hall walked, Kaci Russell singled and Jenna Lane walked to force in the run.

Barnes singled, moved up on a fielder’s choice and scored on a throwing error as Gallipolis tied the game in the top of the third.

But Rock Hill answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning.

Riann Keating singled, Anna Darby doubled and McGinnis hit into a fielder’s choice with Keating beating the throw home to score. A throwing error scored Darby.

Brooklynn Kingery then singled home a run to cap the uprising.

Harrah hit a one-out home run in the fourth inning to cap the scoring.

Russell also had a big game by going 3-4. Hairston was 2-4.

Rock Hill hosts Ironton on Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
