Archie Malone

Archie Lee Malone, 45, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2015, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. The Ironton native was born June 25, 1969, the son of Carl F. “Archie” Malone of Ironton and Susan Kitchen McGinnis of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.

Archie was a 1988 graduate of Ironton High School and attended Morehead State University for one year. He enjoyed working out and participating in all kinds of sports. He was the 1985 Southeastern Ohio Weight Lifting Champion and played football for the Ironton Fighting Tigers from 1986-1987. He was a former employee of the Liebert Corp., a welder apprentice for the McGinnis Inc. and for the McNational Maintenance Company.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Johnnie V. Kitchen Sr. and Lorraine Johnson; paternal grandparents, Archie Lee and Mildred Salyers Malone; an uncle, Andrew Johnson; a cousin, Jeremy Rutherford; and a nephew, Justin Leon Adams.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son, Brady Lee Schneider of South Point; a sister, April Malone Chambers of Crestview, Florida; two nephews, Tyler Chambers and Aidan Joseph; five aunts, Cindy Kitchen of South Point, Jean Frecka of Ironton, Eloise Compton of Florence, South Carolina, Nancy Adams of Gainesville, Florida and Jamie Egger of Wheeling, Illinois; an uncle, Johnnie V. and Wanda Huffman Kitchen of Grayson, Kentucky; and his stepfather, Doug McGinnis of Santa Rosa Beach.
