CHILLICOTHE — Playing at Veterans Memorial Stadium was a different experience for the Symmes Valley Vikings.

However, the outcome was similar to the rest of the season.

The Vikings played the Whiteoak Wildcats at the VA on Monday and rolled to an 11-4 win as they improved to 10-1 on the season.

“Whiteoak is a little young, but they are always well-coached and do things right fundamentally,” said Vikings’ coach Chad Renfroe.

“it was a good experience for our kids to play against a solid team on a big field. This is a tough place to play.”

Trent Thompson went five innings to get the win. He struck out seven, walked six, allowed two hits and two earned runs.

Dillon McFann struck out one, walked one and gave up one hit as he worked the final two innings.

Jacob Klaiber went 3-for-4 with two doubles to lead the Vikings’ 10-hit attack. Cameron Meadows and McFann each went 2-3.

The Vikings took a 3-0 lead in the first inning.

McFann walked, stole second and Tanner Mays had an RBI single. Klaiber walked and Thompson had a two-run double.

Whiteoak used four walks, a base hit and an error to take a 4-3 lead in the second inning.

But the Vikings bounced right back with two runs in the third inning on singles by Klaiber and Cameron Meadows, a walk, a hit batsman and an error.

The lead went to 8-4 in the fourth inning.

Mays walked, stole second and scored on Klaiber’s double. Meadows walked and an error scored two runs.

The final three runs scored in the seventh.

McFann singled, Mays reached on an error and Klaiber had an RBI double. Meadows singled in a run and an error plated the final run.

The Vikings play at Sciotoville East on Wednesday in an SOC game.
